West Virginia University qualifed for its 18th-straight NCAA Tournament in 2017. During that span, the Mountaineers have hosted NCAA competiton during 11 of the years, including eight-straight seasons dating back to 2010.

The Mountaineers and Morgantown have hosted a pair of Elite Eight games (2007, 2016), as West Virginia defeated Duke in 2016 to advance to the 2016 College Cup in San Jose.
